Support & Service
Blue Connections provides high level service and support as an
accredited IBM service centre. Blue Connections understands the role that your
notebook computer has in your everyday life, which is why we endeavour to
repair and return your notebook as quickly as possible should it require
technical attention. Repairs to notebooks, when necessary, are carried out
either on site at schools by a qualified Blue Connections Service Technician,
or are couriered back to the Blue Connections Repair Centre via our Return to
Base system. Blue Connections provides Service Level Agreements that
demonstrate a commitment to providing the after sales support required for a
successful notebook program. The Service Level Agreement has a provision of
loan notebooks to be supplied to students for use while any service repairs are
being conducted.

Purchase Options
The following options are available to parents to assist with the purchase of
notebooks:
Outright Purchase
- The notebook is paid in full upon receipt and is owned outright.
Consumer Lease -
Consumer Lease is a personal loan facility that allows you to repay the
notebook in monthly instalments over a 2 or 3 year period. At the end of the 2
or 3 year period you are the owner of the notebook with no other financial
obligation.
Rental - Blue Connections offer
rental options that allow parents to enter into an agreement to rent the
notebook over a two or three year period. The monthly payments are
significantly lower than a consumer lease or personal loan. At the end of the
rental period you hand back the notebook to Alliance Finance Corporation.
Your Own Financer - You may
finance the notebook with your preferred financer. The notebook will be paid in
full upon receipt.

Insurance & Warranty
The biggest fear parents, schools and staff have in providing a mobile computer
to students is the risk of loss, theft or accidental damage. Blue Connections
takes away this concern by offering an Extended Warranty and Insurance package.
The cost of the insurance and extended warranty is generally included in the
package price of your notebook.

Minimising Support Costs and Maximising Student Uptime
IBM Rescue & Recovery with Rapid Restore™ PC (RRPC) helps
recover lost files at the touch of a button. RRPC virtually eliminates the need
to dispatch onsite help and substantially reduces the need to send replacement
PCs. RRPC maximises student uptime by allowing students themselves to recover
to a previous backup in as little as 20 minutes -which means they stay
productive. And it's reliable because it's fully automatic and also provides
protection from hackers and virus attack. Rescue & Recovery is an update to
RRPC that allows the student to recover files even if they have not been backed
up. A great backup system is now even better.
The IBM Embedded Security Subsystem provides a higher level
of security with hardware and software-based technology that lets students
"lock" their data for greater peace of mind.
Access IBM allows students to learn about their ThinkPad,
obtain detailed information about its features and functions as well as access
help and information to diagnose and resolve common problems at the touch of a
button. This resource virtually eliminates the need for reference manuals and
also takes care of forwarding the machine type and serial number to the IBM
warranty entitlement databases on the web.
Active Hard drive Protection System (APS), a sensor on the
motherboard recognizes sudden movement as when the ThinkPad has been dropped
and in 1/10 of a second stops the hard drive as parks the head. A hard drive
protected by APS can withstand four times more shock than a one without. A
robust machine is now even more robust.
